Small Risks: Finding Myself in the Middle of Reinvention and How I’m Keeping the Momentum
I’m in the middle of my reinvention and it’s not always exciting. Here’s how I’m using small, intentional risks to move forward when I feel stuck and how you can too. I’m in that place no one warns you about, the middle of reinvention. I’ve already made the big decisions. I’ve said the hard goodbyes. I’ve started new habits, ended old ones and taken the first steps toward the woman I want to be. But now, I’m here. Not where I was, not yet where I want to be. It’s a strange place. Quiet. Uncertain. Some days it feels like progress, others, like quicksand. In the beginning, change felt electric. Every move was bold. Every choice had momentum. But now? The shifts are smaller and harder to notice. I’ve learned that this is where most people give up, not due to weakness but because we mistake the plateau for a dead end. I’ve decided to see it differently. The plateau isn’t a dead end, it’s a proving ground. It’s where I build resilience. It’s where I stop chasing constant motion and start trusting steady growth. And yes, it’s where I’ve realized coffee counts as a coping strategy. Small Risks Here’s the thing that’s helping me, small risks. For me lately, that’s looked like: Starting a conversation with a woman I admire at an event instead of hiding by the refreshment table. Pitching an idea I’ve been sitting on for months, even if my voice shook while saying it. Posting something personal online without over-editing it to perfection. Trying a class alone at the gym instead of waiting until I could convince a friend to go with me. Asking for feedback on a project before it feels “done” (painful, but worth it). These aren’t headline making risks. But they are momentum makers. Every time I do one, I remind myself, I’m still moving forward. Small risks remind me I’m alive in this process. They stack, layer by layer, until one day you look up and realize you’re not in the middle anymore. You’re already living in the chapter you once dreamed about. If you’re here too, in your own plateau, I want you to know this, the middle matters. The quiet progress counts. The woman you’re becoming isn’t just built in the leaps, she’s built in every small, brave move you make when no one’s watching. Your Grandeur Journal Prompt Think of one small, brave move you can take this week, something that stretches you without overwhelming you. Write it down. Then, at the end of the week, journal how it felt and what changed, even if it was subtle. Let’s keep going. One risk at a time. What’s one small risk you’ve taken lately? Reply and tell me, I promise to read every single one (probably while drinking coffee and overthinking my own). I’d love to share a few in next week’s Fresh Start Friday. Let’s rise - together ✨ With love and grace, Lady D
